Benefits Of A Mobile Workforce

Even before the pandemic forced us all to work from home, companies were increasingly allowing their workers to “telecommute” and work remotely. You may have been thinking about expanded mobility with trepidation before COVID-19, but now you should be embracing it as the new normal. Here are a few ways to make mobility work for everyone.

Keeping Operations Running

With worldwide closures and safety measures in place, it may have reduced or halted your operations capabilities. By empowering a mobile ready workforce, many companies have been able to maintain semi-normal operations and stay afloat during these turbulent times.

Technologically Advanced

With simple to use mobility solutions, you can bring your business into the new reality. Mobility software solutions allow employees to work anywhere from multiple access points. They can use a multitude of devices such as a mobile phone, tablet, laptop, desktop computer etc. The cloud makes transitioning between devices seamless and the need to be tethered to a desk a thing of the past.

Flexibility

As mentioned before, mobility allows employees to work from anywhere. An added measure of flexibility with a mobile workforce means that work can be done outside of normal business hours. This added flexibility is great for employees with complicated schedules and can makes it easy for co-workers to collaborate on projects and documents like invoices and reports without being in an office conference room.

Productivity

A huge point of concern for many organizations when allowing employees to work from home is maintaining productivity. When weighing this, trust in your employees is paramount. If you don’t trust an employee to work from home, they shouldn’t have been hired.  It’s OK to take it slow.  Maybe you start an employee with one or two days and see how it goes. A Stanford survey found that employees who work from home are 13 percent more productive than their in-office counterparts. The water cooler can be a drain on productivity.  You can easily monitor what your employees are doing with reports delivered via the cloud to wherever you and other managers happen to be. It’s important to trust but you should keep a close eye on performance nonetheless.
